The National Organization for Marriage to Launch Petition to Fight DOMA Repeal |
Even though everybody on Capitol Hill and every marriage activist (on both sides) knows that the battle to repeal DOMA in Congress is over, today NOM joins the Family Research Council in launching a petition campaign to stop this horrible thing which can never, ever happen. Brian Brownshirt pretends the repeal will come any minute now:
"If enacted, the bill would repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), jeopardizing the marriage laws of 44 states and steamrolling the will of the American people as expressed in statewide referenda 31 times in a row.
"And that's why we must ensure it goes no further. DOMA is the one federal law that protects marriage as the union of husband and wife, and protects every state constitutional marriage amendment in the nation."
