Gay Marriage Brings in $259 Million in Revenue to New York City |

Today, thousands of men and women will be celebrating their first wedding anniversaries as one year ago New York's heavily praised same-sex marriage law came into effect.
"As the months have gone by, we have embraced what it means to be a spouse," said Greg Levine, the 33-year-old high school math teacher who was the first to marry in Queens. "There is a sense of satisfaction."
The impact of same-sex marriage goes far beyond civil rights issues. This morning Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Christine Quinn announced that gay marriage brought the city $259 million in economic impact in the last year (which includes everything from florists to wedding licenses).
