Well, hello again, everyone.
This is the most amazing cultural experience. We are doing so much it is difficult to boil down the emails and blog posts to a condensed version. But we are so busy, it is hard to find the time to download pictures and write the blog....believe me, I am not complaining! I just want to convey the richness of this experience to all who are reading my blog.
First of all, everyone .. And I do mean EVERYONE ..is adamant about keeping Costa Rica pure and clean...that means recycling, using biodegradable soaps, not destroying any part of the environmental chain, from insects to the raptors. These things, plants, insects, animals, all play an important part in keeping Costa Rica the way it should be.
Now I know I told you I had ambivalent feelings about the bat lecture. I am really glad I went. The lecture gave me a better understanding of bats and their place in the ecosystem. The researchers had caught 3 bats of different sizes and species, but all insect eating bats. We were allowed to touch them, but there I drew the line...
