Gay Travel: Puerto Rico's National Plantain Festival - October 20-21, 2012 |
Every year the plantain is celebrated at Puerto Rico's National Plantain Festival. It's hosted by Corozal, a community of 40,000 people and a major producer of plantains. (In fact, the town's men's volleyball team is the Plataneros de Corozal, i.e. the "plantain growers" or "plantain pickers of Corozal.") Every September/October, the festival fills Corozal with food, celebration, and more food. If you're anything like me, that's all you really need to know!
