New Poll Shows Marriage Equality Support at 51% in Washington State |
Public Policy Polling poll shows that a majority of Washington state voters, 51 percent, support marriage equality, with 42 percent opposed.
Though a plurality has supported the freedom to marry before, this is the first time a Washington PPP poll showed voter favor over 50 percent.
Even with the option of civil unions -- which the state arguably already has through its everything-but-"marriage" domestic partnerships -- 47 percent support full marriage equality, 30 support civil unions, and only 21 percent oppose any legal recognition of same-sex couples.
