USA: The baffling Human Rights Campaign endorsement of Republican Mark Kirk over Democrat Tammy Duckworth got even more awkward today as the internet got reacquainted with the news that in early March Kirk pledged to support Donald Trump. full story

USA: LGBTQ-affirming environments are ineffective in protecting bisexual students from already higher rates of alcohol abuse, according to a new study from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. full story

USA: The Supreme Court has split 4-4 in a case surrounding union fees - after right-wing Christian teachers sued a teaching union for funding an equal marriage campaign. full story

USA, IDAHO: A federal judge has allowed a lawsuit to proceed that alleges an Idaho city's anti-discrimination policy violates the religious rights of wedding chapel owners who oppose same sex marriage. However, U.S. Magistrate Judge Ronald Bush severely limited the scope of the lawsuit in his ruling on Friday. full story

USA, ILLINOIS: A bed-and-breakfast near Paxton that turned down a same-sex couple's request to hold a civil-union ceremony there in 2011 has been ordered to pay $30,000 in damages to the couple and $50,000 to their attorneys and to stop violating the Illinois Human Rights Act. full story

USA, NEW YORK: A college will take the bold step of removing the gender markers on all of its bathrooms. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: Democratic Attorney General Roy Cooper will not defend the constitutionality of his state's newly-enacted anti-LGBT law. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: Today, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and Equality NC released a letter from more than 80 leading CEOs and business leaders calling on Gov. Pat McCrory and the North Carolina General Assembly to repeal the radical provisions in the deeply discriminatory House Bill 2 that was rammed through the legislature last week. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: Rachel Maddow spent a segment last night covering the ugly anti-LGBT action going on in states around the country, ending with NC: "The state is about to get their pants sued off them by the ACLU." full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: Atlanta city leaders asked the NBA to consider moving the 2017 All-Star Game away from Charlotte after state lawmakers passed legislation that limits protections for LGBT people. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: From Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin: "The law passed in North Carolina is an absolute disgrace. Vermont has a proud tradition of protecting the rights of LGBT individuals. I'm making this decision in that tradition." The Governor banned official travel to the state. full story

USA, SOUTH CAROLINA: Lambda Legal sent a letter to the Horry County School District today urging school officials to reverse their decision to suspend a transgender student and to adopt inclusive bathroom policies that respect the gender identities of its students and are in line with federal law, after news reports that a transgender student was suspended from Socastee High School for using the bathroom that matches his gender identity. full story
