USA, NORTH CAROLINA: The venture capital arm of Google's parent corporation won't invest in North Carolina startup businesses with a law in place halting local governments from approving anti-discrimination protections for LGBT people. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: Responding late Thursday to questions whether Senate leader Phil Berger has an appetite for changes, Berger spokeswoman Shelly Carver said no because "an overwhelming majority of North Carolinians we've heard from support" the law. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser has banned city employees from official travel to North Carolina, joining a growing list of governors and mayors who've forbidden trips to the state. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: The Obama administration is considering whether North Carolina's new law on gay and transgender rights makes the state ineligible for billions of dollars in federal aid for schools, highways and housing, officials said Friday. full story

USA, VIRGINIA: Officials in Lexington, Virginia have announced that they can find no evidence that graffiti spray-painted on a building at Washington and Lee University targeting a gay student "was intended to convey anti-gay sentiments." full story
