BARBADOS: Anti-LGBT activists have begun descending on Barbados for a regional gathering hosted by the World Congress of Families (WCF). full story

CANADA: Hype aside, Trudeau still has a lot to prove when it comes to LGBT issues. Although the legal and political situation in Canada for LGBT people is well advanced -- most queer Americans would likely be envious -- significant gaps for basic rights remain, especially for trans Canadians. full story

COLOMBIA: Colombia's constitutional court just ruled 6-3 in support of marriage rights for same-sex couples in the South American country. full story

FRANCE: The nomination of Laurent Stefanini, President Francois Hollande's head of protocol, to the job at the UN's Paris-based educational, cultural and scientific body ends a year of diplomatic wrangling. full story

FRANCE: An employment tribunal in France has ruled that it's acceptable to call a male hairdresser a "dirty faggot" - because lots of them are gay. full story

GERMANY: A German politician has claimed including LGBTI issues in state-wide education would create an educational system like in East Germany. full story

IRAQ/SYRIA: A new ISIS propaganda video has delivered a clear, chilling, terrifying warning to what happens to gay people in countries under their control. full story

UGANDA: United States lawyer Nate Freeman is in Uganda to continue the work that was started on that ride. The obstacles for social change in the LGBT community in Africa are great, but Freeman has encountered a number of organizations fostering change on a grass-roots level. full story

VATICAN: Pope Francis put his shoulder to the doors of the Catholic Church and shoved them open a little wider Friday, calling for the church to be more tolerant in practice, while not changing any official doctrines. full story

USA: The State Department has asked a federal court to dismiss an intersex person's lawsuit over the denial of a passport because they do not identity as male or female. full story


USA: Kim Davis fan and former Presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee has warned the Republicans not to let up opposition to same-sex marriage. full story

USA: A new study shows that having direct conversations with LGBT people and their allies helps voters be less prejudiced against the LGBT community. full story

USA, CALIFORNIA: Ending weeks of silence, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf on Thursday joined a newly formed Mayors Against Discrimination coalition that is barring official travel to states with anti-bias laws such as those enacted in North Carolina and Mississippi. full story

USA, MISSISSIPPI: The number of US states to which San Francisco will pay for travel shrank again today, after Mayor Ed Lee banned all city-funded travel to the state of Mississippi after their governor OKed a law allowing discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. full story

USA, MISSISSIPPI: Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is banning state-funded travel to yet another state that has passed legislation he's criticized as discriminatory. full story

USA, MISSISSIPPI: Portland Mayor Charlie Hales is cancelling his trip to Mississippi because of the state's new anti-gay law. full story

USA, MISSISSIPPI: 8 companies have signed onto a letter created by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) calling on Mississippi lawmakers to repeal the state's new anti-LGBTIQA law - GE, Dow Chemical, PepsiCo, Hewlett Packard, Hyatt, Choice Hotels, Levi Strauss, and Whole Foods. full story

USA, MISSISSIPPI: Ana Kasparian, a host on the popular online news show The Young Turks, eviscerated Mississippi bigots who recently passed the discriminatory anti-LGBT law, HB 1523. full story


USA, MISSISSIPPI: The decision by Mississippi's governor to sign a law that allows religious groups and some private businesses to deny services to gay and transgender people may have headed off gathering opposition in the state's business community, but it could launch the state into litigation. full story

USA, MISSISSIPPI/NORTH CAROLINA: Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell has banned city officials from taking "non-essential publicly-funded" trips to North Carolina and Mississippi in protest of the states' recent laws that condone discrimination against the LGBTIQA community. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: A 7-year-old boy is taking a strong stand against North Carolina's lawmakers in support of his best friend who is transgender. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: The University of North Carolina is set to comply with a recently enacted law enabling anti-LGBT discrimination in the state, according a memo made public on Thursday. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: The campaigns of Republican Gov. Pat McCrory, who signed the law, and challenger Democratic Attorney General Roy Cooper, who has refused to defend it in court, have been citing the conflict over the law as they seek donations. full story

USA, PUERTO RICO: A federal appeals court on Thursday stated unambiguously that Puerto Rico's ban on same-sex couples' marriages is unconstitutional, throwing a federal judge off a case after the judge had ruled in March that the ban was still in effect. full story

USA, SOUTH CAROLINA: Gov. Nikki Haley said Thursday that a proposed law to limit the bathrooms that transgender people can use is not needed. full story
